The Chord Detector App Reviews

74 add

Great idea...

.... But random performance. Chords are recognized at about 50%, and unfortunately the app doesnt allow you (yet) to edit the missing or wrong chords. An export function would be a great add-on to, and possibilities to search the library or filter via other criteria than song name. And it works fine on iPad but for know only in "double" iPhone screen. Keep on with the good work!

App Ok but no export

This app Works prety well but I dont see any export facility on the web site or on the cloud.

!

Works now that the bug is fixed. It has helped me with figuring out chords to a few songs. Neat app.

Best app

Really nice app.... really accurate on the chords.... totally the new guitarist best friend!

Great app!

I had some songs my kids love and I could not find the chords anywhere on the net... Im not really good at finding the chords just by listening to a song... This app is wonderful! It works fine and customer service is incredible! This saved me a lot of time and money! A great investment!

Simply incredible!

In 4 years, Ive never written a review. Until now. I found this app on a whim, took a chance in downloading it and am very pleased indeed! The real-time note-by-note transcription and the ability to slow down the song with no variance in the pitch will be invaluable to my learning. Much appreciated on a job well done!

Chord Detect

Ive been buying several music apps over a two year period now... THIS ONE IS THE BEST!!!!! Thank you so much!

Awesome !!

Holy #%%%# this is every musicians dream !! I have a show coming up and we are learning a bunch of covers.. This app saved me the terrible task of finding a lagit or learning it by ear. Thanks much !!!! Ive been waiting for this sorta software for years!

Chord Detect

I will give it 3 1/2- 4 Stars. Translates really good but adds some extra chord tones In especially if the song is complicated. Would be nice to out put the chord chart Or create a PDF of the song. Maybe the ability to edit the charts. Otherwise great Job.

Horrible

This app is horrible. I uploaded two songs and it got it so wrong. It cant tell the difference between a Gm and a Gmaj9?! Its useless. Maybe its one for those simple 3 or 4 major chord songs but this apps practical usefulness is horrible. I wish I could get my money back.

Great App

looking forward to update with Ukulele chords

Awesome!

Best $3 Ive ever spent.

Terrible

This app is terrible, it does not have anything more than generic chords. I took a song I knew incredibly well and it was entirely wrong. It would not pick out the fact that it was a cadd9 chord or anything more than major minor chords. This app is not worth your money, it doesnt do what it says it does.

Never open

I have just bought it, after i installed it, it did not work , restarted the ipad , same problem , i click on the icon but the program does not run ,,,

Cool technology

Its not amazingly accurate but worth it.

Works!

Works very well, but not 100%. Hopefully one day, through future updates, it may even detect more complex chords..... 9ths, 11ths, 13ths, etc.....

Never opened

Reinstalled, restarted Ipad, just wont open

Wont open anymore

I installed the update, now it wont open.

Great app

Its not accurate all the time but really gives you an easy starting point to figure out the rest of the song. iOS 7 has the app constantly crashing when I try to detect a new song. Hopefully thats fixed very soon.

OK, app, but it wont replace ears

I bought this app, because it seemed kind of miraculous, then I tested it in an original song I recently recorded. It works well when the recorded chords are simple triads and Dom 7th chords, but goes a little wonky if it encounters anything more complex. For example, when it encountered a D7#9 chord, it sometimes thought it was a D min 7 (understandable), but sometimes thought it was a CMajor, or an F#dim7. One quirk it has that is pretty consistent, it that it has a blind spot for IV (sub-dominant) chords: it consistently sees them as minor versions of the I (tonic), a weird idiosyncrasy. Its a pretty useful tool, in some respects--sometimes you are stuck trying decipher a specific chord, but it will take a lot of interpretation to truly make use of it. If the music youre trying to figure out uses simple chords, its quite good.
